Our slide scans are one of the best quality and most cost effective in the UK. We offer 2 resolutions 2000dpi and 4000dpi, this is optimal resolution before hitting the film grain, we can get higher resolution if required but these come under the professional scanning services and therefore go onto different scanners that need more work and cost more.
The 2000dpi service is great for low cost scanning that still offers great prints at 10x6 and lower, the 4000dpi resolution allows you to print larger and allows cropping etc, whilst retaining image quality.
Please don’t be fooled by other companies offering resolutions of 5000dpi and 1000dpi, we know which scanners they will be using and they will be low quality consumer scanners, our 2000dpi scans are superior quality as the optics on our machines are vastly superior and we are the only company in the UK thats runs all the correct Film Profiles from Fuji and Kodak on all Slides. All you will gain is a larger inferior scan. This is especially true with old Kodachromes that have dense emulsion. The Dust & Scratches do not work using these other scanners and our scanner was the only model ever built by Kodak to scan these properly with full Dust & Scratches enabled.
Slides come in a variety of different sizes, the most common being the 35mm format, followed by the 110 & 127 square format slides. Please ensure you know what slides you have for scanning when ordering and if in doubt just give us a call.
We can scan any age Slides but please be aware that broken, damaged slides or bent cardboard mounts may have to be re-mounted, if it’s a small number (1 or 2 etc) then we include it within the scanning charges but if it’s a larger number of 20 or more than we have to charge this at an additional 20p per scan to cover time involved etc. We will always contact you beforehand if there is a problem with damaged slides.
Scans are saved either and Jpegs or Tiffs, depending on how many you have and the whether they are Jpegs or Tiffs determine what they get saved to. Downloads can be set up for up to 200 jpgs etc, CD or DVD are free and a popular choice for archiving.
You can supply a USB stick with your order to save them to or we can supply a quality USB stick for just £10.
For larger projects a hard drive may be required again you can supply one or we can supply one for around £45
If you have a large collection of slides and don’t know where to start or thinking about different options, then please read our testimonial from one of our clients who had over 3000 slides to scan and was in a dilemma whether to try and scan himself or send them to be scanned by Karmaan.
If your order does not total to at least £25 please use the Minimum order purchase box below to order your scans, this is due to the fact that even the smallest order of just one or two scans take considerable time to set up and process.
These include all non standard slides, 127, Super Slides and Thick Glass Mounted Slides
